Ruel E Anderson

November 24, 1928 — May 13, 2015

Ruel E Anderson left this earth peacefully and returned to his Heavenly Father on May 13, 2015 after spending the day with his family. He treasured his family time over anything else and loved being around his grandchildren. Ruel was born November 24, 1928 to Erastus Wilford and Selma Arvilla Petersen Anderson and was raised in the small town of Fountain Green, Utah in Sanpete County. After losing his father at a young age to cancer, Ruel and his siblings helped his mother Arvilla raise the family together. As we were growing up we loved listening to his numerous stories of all the various jobs he had to do as a child: taking the cows to and from the pasture, gathering eggs, helping his Mother make cottage cheese and sour dough bread, and bringing in the lumber and coal to heat the house during the winter. We all loved hearing about him going to the movies for a nickel. He truly loved life and sharing his experiences. He loved going back to Fountain Green annually with his family to get his favorite lamb sandwich during Lamb Days. He always skipped the parade to be one of the first in line. Ruel was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in various callings including Bishop, Counselor, Sunday School Presidency, Young Men's Presidency, High Councilor, Stake Mission President, and ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple for 15 years. Ruel served an LDS mission to the Southern States Mission from 1949 to 1951. Ruel enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1951 and served one year in Korea in the 4th Communication Squadron. After returning home, he served at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, South Dakota in the 740th Aircraft Control and Warning. He was honorably discharged in July 1955. He then spent 8 years in the Air Force Reserves. He attended Snow College and the University of Utah. He married Carol Williamsen on May 10, 1963 in the Logan, Utah LDS temple. Ruel was employed by the State of Utah with the Utah Highway Patrol and worked there for over 35 years. He started as a dispatcher and ended his career in Safety Inspections retiring in March 1991. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; children, Alan (Kristi), Gary (Debbie), Kevin, Diane (Wayne) Noren, and Debbie; 14 grandchildren; sisters, Anna Ludeen Lambert, Janelle (Scofield) Smith, and Helen Bray; many nieces, nephews and friends.
