Joyce M. McDougal "Our Beloved Mother" Our loving, devoted mother, Joyce LaRee Muir McDougal, age 87, died November 10, 2013 in South Jordan, Utah. She was born September 6, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, daughter of Barlow Ferguson and Merle Strong Muir. Raised in Taylorsville, she graduated from Granite High School and attended Brigham Young University where she met and married the love of her life, R. David McDougal in the Salt Lake Temple April 12, 1950. Following their marriage, Joyce helped with the building and opening of McDougal Funeral Home. Her life was spent in the service of others. She was a homemaker in the truest sense, always caring for the needs of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite activities were always family centered, with reunions, holidays and traveling together. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life. She served in various positions in the Ward and Stake Young Women and Relief Society Organizations. She served with her husband, R. David, as he Presided over the Georgia Atlanta Mission, in Hosting for the First Presidency, and served many years in the Jordan River Temple. Joyce is survived by her children: David Alan (Karrie Fitzgerald) McDougal, Orem; Marcie (Roger) Halterman; Kirk Layne (Ann Coffman) McDougal; Spencer Scott (Janet Howick) McDougal; and Lisa (Mike) Olson, Highland; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Heugly, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Carolyn Coats McDougal, West Jordan; Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville Gardens 1st Ward, 4252 South Bennion Road (1905 West). Viewings will be held Friday, November 15, 2013, 5:30 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday at the church, 9:30 10:30 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
