Louise Rupp Erickson

July 12, 1926 — February 5, 2014

"Unforgettable" After bravely enduring several years of difficult health challenges, life has come to a close for our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an amazing woman of great strength, and although we will miss her terribly, we are grateful that her physical pain has ended. Mom came from modest beginnings, the youngest of seven children, born to Benjamin and Nettie Rupp. Growing up on the family farm in Taylorsville, UT, she learned to work hard, embrace every opportunity to help her family, and create a little mischief along the way. Mom married her handsome sailor, Reed R. Erickson, October 2, 1945. With great patience and love, he tenderly cared for her throughout her many physical trials. She was a beautiful, selfless woman and generous to a fault. We are so lucky and proud to have her as our mother. Louise is survived by her husband Reed; their 2 daughters Charlyn (Gene) Panek and Sandy (Wilf) Rudert; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, a great-granddaughter, and her dog Heidi . . . perhaps the favorite daughter! Of the several physicians involved in Mom's care over the years, she held a special love for Dr. Mark Rada, Dr. Brian Whisenant, Dr. Timothy Johnson and Dr. Jeffrey Kurrus, not only for their expertise, but also for the dignity and compassion with which they treated her. In addition, the family wishes to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Peggy, Kathy and Tanya, as well as her special niece, Marge Brothers, Maureen Nenow (how do you put into words that package!), and her cherished neighbors and friends who have included her in many fun-filled get-togethers. Services to honor and celebrate Louise's life will be held Monday, February 10, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens. Because of Louise's great love for her little dog, the family suggests donations to an animal charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
