Karen Sue Carson McDougal

October 4, 1968 — January 22, 2015

Our sweet, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away January 22, 2015 after a tough battle with melanoma cancer. Karen fought this disease with all of her strength but after multiple surgeries and treatments the disease was too strong when it eventually entered her brain. She was born October 4, 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Valley High School in 1987 and began her work as a forklift operator for the next 15 years. She then moved on to her desired career in the healthcare industry. Karen earned her C.N.A. and following that achieved her dream and became a wound care technician. She worked in multiple clinics in the Salt Lake Valley, finding her niche at the Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Treatment Center of Utah. After much preparation, she finally became a certified hyperbaric wound technician. Karen truly loved helping people in and outside of her career and was loved by everyone she helped. Karen married her soul mate Scott McDougal on Valentine's Day in 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enjoyed every day of life, and her proudest accomplishments are her two sons, Taylor and Evan. Her happiest times were spent camping, boating, skiing, and anything else outdoors with the people she loved. She was most proud of the beautiful flower gardens she created and lovingly tended around her home. She and Scott spent endless hours working in her yard. The beauty she formed with her two hands gave her much pride, happiness and joy. The highlight of her backyard is a waterfall feature lovingly designed and installed by her family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 27 years, Scott; sons, Taylor and Evan; father: Gary (Donna) Carson; mother, Carol Perlich; sister: Barbara (Jack) Kolkman; nephews: Derek, Nick, and Cory; brother: Michael (Tori) Carson; nieces: Grace and Emily; in-laws: Gib ( Jean) McDougal; niece, Tanya Payne; nephew, Gibbie McDougal Jr. Karen was truly loved and admired by her many friends, co-workers, and patients, too many to mention here. A celebration of Karen's life will be held Friday, January 30, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S.
