Alan R. Aldous ~ Loved by All
Alan Robinson Aldous, age 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 9, 2022.
He was born on November 4, 1932, in St. Paul Minnesota to Clarence Moroni and Sarah Eunice Robinson Aldous. He was raised in Orono, Maine; Ogden, Utah; and Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he graduated from Highland High School.
He enrolled at the University of New Mexico with the intent to study chemical engineering, but after taking one pharmacy course he was “addicted.” He graduated from UNM with a degree in
Pharmacy and completed ROTC. He began US Air Force service as a 2nd Lieutenant and was later promoted to 1st Lieutenant. He flew KC-97 Air to Air Refueler Airplanes.
After his military service he moved to Holladay, Utah and opened the Hunter Pharmacy in Hunter Utah. This is where he met and fell in love with his sweetheart Deniece. He was “the handsome guy with the white ’57 Chevy convertible.” They were married November 14, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and eternity. Together they raised 4 children and served the customers of the Hunter Pharmacy for 13 years, whether they needed medicine, an ice cream cone, or a sack full of “penny” candy. After selling the business, Alan continued to thoroughly enjoy being a pharmacist at Skagg’s and other drugstores, never taking a sick day in his 40-year career.
Over the years Alan enjoyed hiking, skiing, woodworking, and gardening; but the thing he loved most was being with his family. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including Ward Clerk, High Council, Bishopric, Branch Presidency, and High Priest Instructor/Secretary, but his favorite calling was being a home teacher. He was called to serve for three years in the Jordan River Temple when it was opened in 1982 and was released after 16 years of service. After Deniece passed away, he served as a missionary at LDS Employment Resource Services.
Alan is survived by his 4 children: Brenda (Evan) Nethercott, Lorie Johnson, Paul (Sharla) Aldous, and Carrie (Richard) Hanks; along with 15 Exceptional grandchildren and 8 precious great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Deniece; his parents; siblings Clair, Lorraine, and Duane, and Great-grandson Hunter.
We wish to thank Matt, Katie, Maria and others at Valeo Home Healthcare and Hospice for their kindness and exceptionally compassionate care of dad and our family.
