Alan Powell

November 3, 1952 — February 25, 2024

Alan Powell, 71, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his mother by his side on Sunday February 25, 2024. Alan was born in Long Beach CA on November 3, 1952, to Lorraine Paar and Reid Powell. He was the oldest of four children. He leaves behind his mother Lorraine and three cherished siblings Yvette Stark, Josette Anderson, and Kevin Paar.

Alan grew up in Price, Utah and later his family moved to Sandy, Utah where he attended Alta High School. One of his greatest accomplishments was obtaining his G.E.D. although no one thought he could achieve such things. Alan was the kindest, most gentle soul. He always thought of others and only spoke words of kindness. He loved being surrounded by his family and dear friends. He worked at Becton Dickinson in Sandy, Utah for 19 years. Later, he moved to Bountiful, Utah where he worked at Smith's and Dick's as a bagger for another 20 years and would eventually retire from there, having never missed a day of work. He and his mother lived together for 71 years. He was an incredibly loving and devoted son, always taking out the trash and helping his mother with any needs she might have.

Alan was passionate about history. One of his amazing gifts was knowing historical facts. He knew everything that happened on any given date. He knew an incredible amount about the history of presidents, and Egyptian history. He was passionate about his coin collection, and of course anything Star Trek, Star Wars, or Sci-Fi. He also had a soft spot for Wendover and loved taking weekend trips to play a couple of dollars at the slots. He was fiercely independent and was very proud to own a car and drive himself to and from work.

Alan will be remembered for his generosity, big heart, and the smile he always brought to everyone's faces. He wanted only the best of things for all those around him and was always quick with a compliment or words of encouragement "by Joe."

Alan would have wanted all of us to remember "Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those who transform into the force... Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter" -Yoda. And as always to "Live long and prosper"- Spock.

Our dearest Alan, the world was such an extraordinary place with you in it. You will never be forgotten and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have met you. We love you! May the force be with you!
