Albert S. Childs 1927 ~2012 Surrounded by his family, Albert Swain Childs passed away peacefully on the morning of June 22, 2012 at the home of his daughter in South Jordan, Utah. He was 85 years old. He was born February 24, 1927 in Gunnison, Utah to Lovell Lorenzo and Susan Almira Swain Childs. He married Gay Rosenberg September 23, 1947 in the Manti Temple; she passed away September, 2000 and joyous must be their reunion. He served his country in both WWII and in the Korean War as a Navy corpsman. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Bishop, High Counselor and Stake Patriarch. He and Gay served a full time mission in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They also served in the Jordan River Temple, as ordinance workers, for many years and he held his associations there very dear. He taught school in Kearns, Utah for 36 years at West Kearns Elementary, Oquirrh Hills Elementary and finally at Kearns Jr. High School. He taught mostly art, science and math to 8th graders. He has touched the lives of many young people who were privileged to have him as their teacher. He is preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, brother Ralph, sister Alta, and 2 grandchildren. He is survived by all 5 of his children: Marcia (William) Gray, Susan (John) Peckham, Ellen (Kirk) Middaugh, Keith (Melanie) Childs and Mary (Jed) Hurst; 33 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Glenmoor 3rd Ward, 9455 South 4800 West. Viewings will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
