Alexander Ward Hansen, beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, uncle, and friend, tragically and heartbreakingly chose to end his life on February 17, 2019. At the time of his death in Rexburg, Alex was attending BYU Idaho.

Alex was born in Orem, Utah, on February 13, 1995 to Steven Lewis Hansen and Charlotte Evans Hansen. He was the third of nine children. He grew up in Riverton, Utah. Alex graduated from Riverton High School in June of 2013. He loved music and expressed his love through his accomplishment on the piano, playing tuba in the school band, and participation in bell choir. He was active in scouting throughout his youth, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and participating in the Order of the Arrow for several years. He served as a counselor at Camp Evergreen at the Hinckley Scout Ranch (also known as East Fork of the Bear) for two summers.

Alex was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2013 to 2015. At the conclusion of his mission he enrolled at BYU Idaho. He served faithfully in his student wards as a family history coordinator and most recently as ward clerk. Alex lived his life as a devoted disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, serving and loving all those he came in contact with. Alex was an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, and he loved watching Japanese anime. He was known for his habit of always wearing black clothing. He loved the outdoors and spent much time hiking, backpacking, and fishing with friends and family.
