Alfred Hal Braunberger

Alfred Hal Braunberger Educator Alfred Hal Braunberger passed peacefully, from the love and care of his family, to the arms of his wife, Norma, on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Alfred was born May 12, 1926. He graduated from Ogden High School and then served in the Air Force in World War II as a medic. Al attended the University of Utah where he met the love of his life, Norma Jean Knudsen . They were married September 12, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Al and Norma were members of the Nu Chapter of Lamda Delta Sigma. This group continues to meet to this time. Al graduated from the U with a degree in accounting and later received his degree in elementary education. He subsequently obtained a master s degree in educational administration from the University of Utah and a doctorate of educational psychology from Brigham Young University. He taught elementary school and then special education, where many students learned important life skills from him, including reading, writing and arithmetic. Al was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served in his community on the Kearns Town Council, the Proud of Kearns Committee, the Kearns Green Thumbers, and the Lions Club. Al s family felt his great love and support. He made everyone feel important, cared for, and loved. For him, family truly came first. He took his family on many trips, which taught his children a love of nature and history. He taught his family and helped them with their educational pursuits, giving encouragement and doing whatever he could to assist them. Al is survived by his five children, Wayne (Shauna), Paul (Sylvia), Carol Dalton (Ronnie), Ann McIntyre (Lance) and Shari Wright (Richard); his 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and his sisters Verna May Boss and Darlene Pappas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his parents, John Braunberger and Verness Mae Burgi Braunberger; and his brothers John Braunberger, David Braunberger and Floyd Braunberger (Gerlinde). The family would like to thank the caregivers at Carrington Court and Millcreek Home Health who loved and assisted him though his final years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013, 12:00 noon at the Kearns East Stake Center, 4731 South 4300 West. Friends may call Saturday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and at the church Friday, August 2, 2013, 10:00 10:45. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
