With thankful hearts we pay tribute to our sweet mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Alice LaPreal Tate Facer, of West Valley City, Utah, who passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the age of 83. She was born November 19, 1930 in Logan, Utah to Charles Delmer and Oreta Loraine Johnson Tate, the fifth of eight children. Alice married Wilford Pratt Facer February 20, 1952 in Colorado; he preceded her in death October 17, 2004. After his death they were sealed for time and eternity in the Jordan River Temple August 11, 2007. They were blessed with six wonderful children. Alice was very proud of her children's accomplishments as well as those of her grandchildren. Alice was foremost a wife, a mother and caretaker. She loved her children but most of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had some special gift for everyone. She had a Christ-like love for making everyone feel loved and welcomed. She loved family gatherings, family reunions and making and serving homemade food. She was an excellent cook. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities including Relief Society Coordinator for the last several years. Her most cherished calling was serving in the Jordan River Temple. She retired from Mervyn's Department Store after 12 years. Survived by her 5 sons and 1 daughter: Gregory Tate (Sharon), Nyssa, OR; Wilford Timothy (Lora), Oak City, UT; Sidney Pratt (Kathy), Fountain Green, UT; Lorrie (Keith) Crowther, Sanford, CO; Christian Charles (Kaelynn), West Weber, UT; Paul Eugene (Tawny), Bountiful, UT; 28 grandchildren; 39.5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 brother and 3 sisters. Also preceded in death by grandson, Timothy Riley Facer; parents; brother Lynn Johnson Tate; sisters Donna Glaittli and Joyce T. Wilcox. The family would like to express their deepest love and appreciation to Lorrie, Keith and their family for the last few years, and to Paul, Tawny and their family for the previous few years of caring, loving and providing for our sweet mother. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Granger 25th Ward, 2101 West 3100 South. Viewings will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Logan City Cemetery, 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Research or the Huntsman Cancer Center.
