Alma LeRoy Geis

July 27, 1934 — August 12, 2018

"Because You're You" Alma LeRoy Geis passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12th at his home in Taylorsville. Roy was born on July 27, 1934 in Salt Lake City to Alma and Blanche Ipson Geis and grew up with his brother Greg and sister Thomasine. He graduated from West High School in 1952 and proudly served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958 as an F-86 radar technician. In 1963 he married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Karen Ann Kehl. Roy and Karen raised five children: Krey (Desiree), Kent (GayLynn), Kipp (Amber), Krissi (Cory) Miller and Katie (his favorite). He dearly loved his 13 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. Roy had a passion for trains, planes, art, music, American history and cars. He had an impressive collection of books and model locomotives. He loved sports and enjoyed playing softball and basketball. He was well known in his family for making the greatest mashed potatoes on earth. He was an avid genealogist and spent many hours researching his family history. Roy cherished being with his kids and grandchildren and was a wonderfully loving grandfather. After many years of service in the LDS church, he determined that his latest calling as librarian was the best job in the church.
