Alvin Mackay, 91, passed away December 16, 2013 in Logan, Utah. Born November 2, 1922 in Taylorsville, Utah, son of Vernal and Vera Bawden Mackay. Served in the US Army during WWII. Married Alice Elaine Murdock December 20, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. Worked in the produce department for Associated Food Stores and retired after 40 years. Active member of the LDS Church where he served diligently in many callings including scouting, ward clerk, Branch President of Salt Lake Community College, home teacher and in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples, as an ordinance worker, for over 30 years. Member of the Taylorsville Lions Club for many years. He was a very friendly and outgoing person that greeted everyone he came in contact with! Survived by children Lyle (Sherry) Mackay, Cody, WY; Karren (Eugene) Holder, Taylorsville; Sharron (Mike) James, West Jordan; Sandra (Larry) Egnew, Hyrum; Terry Mackay, Cedar Fort; 23 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Mecham, Tropic; brother Therman Mackay, Taylorsville. Preceded in death by wife; daughter-in-law, Michelle Mackay; brothers Roscoe, Ralph and Kenneth; sisters Nola, Ann and Thelma. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013, 12:00 noon at the Valley Park 3rd Ward, 2603 West 4700 South. Viewings will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
