Amelda F. Tso Loving Mother & Grandmother Amelda Frances Davis Tso, born June 17, 1923 in Lukachukai, Arizona, returned to her Father in Heaven January 15, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah, due to complications of surgery, surrounded by her loving family. Our mother was a teacher, advisor, guidance counselor, loving care giver, community leader and overall great person to know. Mom worked for the Jordan School District for 18 wonderful years. Was president of the Rocky Mountain Navajo Association which helped Native Americans purchase new homes. She was one of the first community Native American leaders in the Salt Lake Valley and helped promote a positive image for all Native Americans and educate others about Native culture. Survived by sons: Phillip (Jan), Bill aka Willie (Charlene), Wilfred, Andrew (Aprille); daughters: Virginia, Wilma (Bret), Gladys (Bounmy), Theresa, Imelda (Michael), Arlene, Elizabeth (Anderson); 32 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. Preceded in death by husband, William RayTso; daughter, Mathilda; son, Anthony; granddaughter; mother, Maggie Mitchell; father, Philip Sam Davis; 9 brothers and sisters. Our mother will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thank you goes out to the health care providers at St. Mark s Hospital including Ruth, Manuel, Brooke and especially, Claudia who assisted our mother make it through her transition surrounded, by her loving family and very close friends. A very deep thanks to Virginia, who through her sacrifice and undying love, took care of mom for the last couple of years. Thank you, Virginia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 20, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 7405 South 1700 West. Viewings will held Thursday, 5-8 p.m., with Rosary at 6:00 p.m., and Friday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
