Anca Alexandra Stevens 1975 ~ 2011 Anca was born July 22, 1975 to Petre and Ana Gheorghe in Bucharest Romania. She lived under the rule of an oppressive Nicolaie Ceausescu until his rule ended in 1989. Her father was born in Comuna Glodeanu Siliste in central Romania, and her mother in Piatra Neamt in North Eastern Romania. Anca studied English in school and continued her studies in college where she received a BA in Law. She met her husband Martin Stevens while visiting the U.S. They married in December 1998 and made their home in Tri-Cities, Washington before moving to Salt Lake City in 2003. Anca was always caring about others and made friends very easily. Her infectious smile, sense of humor and quick wit made being around her a joy. She worked as a lead agent in reservations at Delta Airlines until her illness began in May of 2010. Anca s two beloved children, Ana age 9 and William age 8, state She was a very special Mom (Ana) and She was a one of a kind Mom (William). Anca passed away in the early morning of July 20, 2011 at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, from complications of Lymphoma - her aunt Despina and husband Marty by her side. Her parents, visiting from Romania since mid-June , were able to spend time with her prior to her passing. During her illness she showed great courage in complying with all procedures and was available for every treatment. We know that the team at Huntsman are very saddened by her passing as she had made many new friends there as well. We are all in deep sadness that she had to suffer through this ailment, but find peace in the assurance that she understood the promise of salvation given in the Gospel. She did accept Christ as her personal Savior and began down the road of knowing Him. We feel confident she is in His arms being comforted right now. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Death is swallowed up in victory Thanks be to God, in our Lord Jesus Christ.
