Our precious angel, Andrea Boam, died Thursday, January 30, 2020, from complications of a lingering illness in connection with Angelman Syndrome. She was a valiant spirit trapped in an imperfect body, and has returned home to her loving Heavenly Father, who has a perfect body waiting to receive her. She rejoined grandparents and other family member who are rejoicing over this sweet reunion.
Andrea was born December 27, 1971, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Thomas Lee and Myrna Hurst Boam. Though Andrea's life was fraught with pain and difficulties brought on by her disabilities, she still managed to touch the lives of all who met her. She was our Angel because she spread sunshine wherever she went. She made people better for having spent time with her. Those sparkling eyes and mischievous smile won over the hearts of young and old. No one could resist her charm. Without benefit of words, Andrea found countless ways of saying, "I love you. Can we be friends?" Andrea had a particular fondness for puppies and babies. Her face lit up whenever they came near. These were the two hand signs she learned and remembered through the years. Andrea loved to play silly games and always got people laughing when they joined in the fun. A simple game of toss the rolled up napkin, could cause her to giggle uncontrollably. She loved attention and found a way to command it. She was the Princess in any room. She was a pure spirit, in whom there was no guile. We will miss her sassy, loving personality. We will miss her every day.
Andrea is survived by loving parents; sisters, Stefani (Toren) Karlsson, Mindy (Ken) Jennings; brother, Ryan (Julie) Boam; nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Special thanks to her 2nd family, the staff at Danville Sandy Home and Danville Employment Services; too many to name individually, but you know who you are and how much Andrea adored you. Leaving you was the hardest thing she'd ever done. Thank you for caring for her and loving her, regardless of her challenges. For you, this was a joy, not a job. Many thanks also to the dedicated staff at Envision Hospice Care. You were mindful of the needs of Andrea, as well as those of us who were suffering to let her go.
