Andrew Tyler Petersen

March 22, 1998 — September 12, 2019

Andrew Tyler Petersen passed away suddenly in the early morning of Thursday, September 12, 2019. Andrew or Andy, as most people called him, was born March 22, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in West Valley City where he graduated from Cyprus High School then attended Salt Lake Community College where he was taking American Sign Language to become an interpreter. He worked with his dad at Burton Lumber, a job he enjoyed and was proud of.

Andy was a very smart young man who was avid about learning and was always there with a helping hand. He was extremely outgoing and relished a new adventure. He had a zeal for life and enjoyed fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, being with his family and playing on his Xbox with his aunt, cousins and brothers. He spent a lot of his free time visiting his Grandma Clara or stopping in to help out Grandma and Grandpa Peteresen, or at his Nana’s; although it’s up for debate whether it was to actually hang out with his Nana or to just drink all her Dr. Pepper and raid her food pantry. His favorite movie was Pirates of the Caribbean and we are all convinced that he was a handsome gentleman pirate in a previous life. Andy had an infectious laugh and a ready smile for everyone. He made friends easily and everyone who ever met him liked him.

Andy is survived by his parents Crystal and David Neihart and Lethron and Brooke Tate; his brothers Joshua, Jacob and Levon; and sisters Kilie, Taysia, Makayla, and Ciara; grandparents Charles and Patty Borders, Jerryle and Emma Alice Petersen, Clara Whiteside and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers John (Honeybee) Miller and Rocky Neihart.

Services for Andy will be at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing at 11:00 a.m. with service to follow at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Valley View memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
