Anita Beulah Bartholomew Miller (83) passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 in Payson, Utah. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease for many years and was cared for by her loving husband, Vernon. Anita was born June 20, 1930 in Fayette, Utah to Elmer Lucian Bartholomew and Lillian Glade Bown. She is preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings: Bernard Elwood Anderson, Harold Elmer Bartholomew, Marva Lucille Bartholomew Armstrong, Roma Joan Bartholomew and Elmer Craig Bartholomew. Anita is survived by her husband Vernon Nephi Miller; five children, 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Her children are Jacqueline Lee (Larry) of Elk Ridge, UT; Deborah Young (Jeff) of Farmington, NM; Jeanne Shakespeare (Robert) of Vernal, UT; Bernice Wassmer (Jeff) of Culpeper, VA; and Paul Vernon Miller (Donna) of West Valley City, UT. Her grandchildren are: Janette Lee Jenkins (Todd), Michael Lee (Shoko), Edgar Lee (Tiffany ), Susan Lee Espinoza (Hector), Dennis Lee (Katie), Jillinda Young Widner (Nate), Camille Young Turner (Brian), Katherine Shakespeare Broderick (Sam), Jennifer Shakespeare Peters (Jeremy), John Shakespeare (Megan), Anne Shakespeare Christensen (Matthew), Stephanie Wassmer Scholten (J.J.), Kurtis Wassmer, Whitney Wassmer, Justin Miller, Nathan Miller, Kaleb Miller and Olivia Miller. Her 29 great grandchildren are Owen, Eric, Anica and Autumn Jenkins; Everett, Adam, Julia and expected baby Lee; Isabel and Liliana Espinoza; Benjamin, James, Olivia and Kate Lee; Paige, Hannah and Chloe Widner; Jayden, Lincoln and expected baby Turner; Juliet Peters; David and Robert Christensen and Katerina Shakespeare; Gabriel, Sydney, Jason, and Daniel Shakespeare; and Aubrey Scholten. Anita grew up in Fayette, Utah and graduated from Gunnison High School. She then attended Snow College and Utah State University where she met her husband to be. Vernon and Anita were married September 14, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple and were married for 62 years. They lived in Logan, Roosevelt, West Valley City (Granger), and recently in Payson, Utah. Anita excelled at homemaking skills and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Two of her passions were crocheting and reading. She was a member of DUP and worked many years as a substitute teacher for Granite School District. A viewing for Anita will be held Sunday, January 19, 2014, 6:00 - 7:30 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the Granger LDS 10th Ward, 3274 Hillsdale Drive (2800 W.) with a viewing one hour prior to services.
