Anne Polco Anderson

February 22, 1924 — September 21, 2015

Our sweet mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015, at the age of 91, surrounded by family. Anne was born in Manchester, New York on February 25, 1924 to Joseph and Anna Polco. Raised in Manchester, New York, Anne graduated from Shortsville High School and after graduation was then employed by the same High School as secretary. She enjoyed her secretarial work very much. She married her sweetheart, Ernest Smith Anderson on June 30, 1944 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They went back to live in the Palmyra, Rochester, New York area for the next ten years where they lived for a short while in the Joseph Smith Home, and behind the Hill Cumorah. After that Anne, Ernest, and family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she spent the rest of her life. In Salt Lake City she worked as a secretary in the Western Machinery Co., Valley Bank, and at Hillsdale Elementary School. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities within the church and as secretary to her husband when he was called as a Stake Patriarch for the LDS Church. Together they served on Temple Square, at the LDS Jordan River Temple and on two missions: the Salt Lake City South Mission and the Texas Forth Worth Mission. Before failing eyesight occurred, she crocheted 130 leper bandages and made over 2,000 infant hats for the Humanitarian Center. Her life revolved around her family. She adored them. Survived by daughter Coralie (Leon) Ripplinger of Salt Lake; sister Rose Polco Dobbler of Manchester, New York; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
