Jean McOmie An Elect Lady Annie Jean Shipley McOmie, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and valiant daughter of God, passed from this life June 26, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born to Annie Slack and Willard Randal Shipley October 31, 1923 in Highland, Utah. Married Donald McOmie March 3, 1945 in Oakland, California; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her life was filled with diligent charitable service. She found the good in everyone she met. She was dedicated to her faith and demonstrated it by serving in many callings in the LDS Church. She served for many years in Primary and Relief Society and was ward organist for 70 years. She, with her eternal companion, served as missionaries in the Charleston West Virginia Mission and as Directors of the Winter Quarters Visitors Center in the Independence Missouri Mission. She also found much joy and eternal friendships as she served with her husband for ten years in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a true disciple of our Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her children, who adore her, Don (Ruth Ann), JoAnn (Stan) Child, Doug (Nola), Jill (Lance) Hale, Dwayne (Janeal), Jolene (Joseph) Fortner; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, father, mother, brother and great-grandson, Carter. We, as a family, would like to express our deepest gratitude and love to Charlee and Sarah for their special, loving care of our mother. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Pioneer Stake, Edison Ward, 1401 West 700 South, Salt Lake City, UT. Friends and family may visit Friday, July 5, 2013, 6-8:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
