Anthon Newel Pettit Dancing Together Again Our beloved father, Anthon Newel Pettit, born December 21, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah the seventh of twelve children born to Archibald Newel and Genevieve Johnson Pettit completed his work on this earth September 9, 2011. He was greeted on the other side of the veil by his Eternal companion Beth Constance White Pettit and other family members. Our father was forever charitable and forgiving. He taught us the power of prayer and to sing the hymns of the church. His kindness and generosity have left a great legacy to his family. Newel was industrious from an early age and while in high school began a trucking business hauling coal from Price to Salt Lake City. He was a Veteran of World War II. He built many homes in the Salt Lake area. He married our mother Beth Constance White Pettit April 28, 1939. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple April 27, 1954. Beth passed away May 27, 2009 after 70 years of marriage. Newel is survived by his sisters, Jenny (Myron, ds) Francom, Salt Lake City; Dorthella (Roy, ds) Walker, Moab; Lyle (Jay) Lyon, Orem, and Rebecca (Revere, ds) Nelson, Salt Lake City. His children: Gerald (Judy) Pettit, Herriman; Marilyn (Grant) Woolston, South Jordan; Marvin (Danna) Pettit, South Jordan; Ronda (Lamont) Nelson, Centerville; Margie (David) Brock, Sandy; Jack (Karen) Pettit, Washington, Utah; Jill (Ron) Johnson, South Jordan; Farrell (Leigh) Pettit, Goodyear, Arizona; Brent Pettit, West Jordan; Gayla (Val) Johnson, Litchfield Park, Arizona, and Glen (Stacy) Pettit, West Jordan. His posterity includes 63 grandchildren, 141 great-grandchildren and 20 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Melvin (Marjorie), Lester (LaVella), Vernal (Amber), Seth (Neva) Pettit; his sisters, Grace (Bob) Vail, Estella Pettit and Ruth (Ken) Broadwater; Newel and Beth s infant daughter, Rosella; grandchildren, Roger Williams, Richard Pettit, Heidi Williams McCartney. The family thanks the staff of the Lodge at Jordan River, IHC Hospice, Rivercrest Branch, and Murray 28th Ward. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 12, 2011 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road with a viewing Sunday, September 11, 2011 6-8:00 p.m. and again Monday 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery Occupation:Building Contractor
