Archie Samuel Hurst, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 23, 2016. He was born February 8, 1932, in Zurich, Montana. The son of Winfield and Arvella Hurst and the ninth of twelve children. He grew up in Declo, Idaho. After graduation from high school, he attended Utah State University. There he met and married his wife, Kay Norton, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple on March 20, 1953. After graduation, he worked for the former Cloverleaf Dairy, Supervisor of the LDS Church Dairy on Welfare Square, Utah State University Agriculture College, Utah State Department of Agriculture, and Kansas State Department of Agriculture. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a great love for the Savior and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served faithfully throughout his life in the Young Men's, several Bishoprics, High Councils, and Stake Presidencies, served a mission with his wife at the LDS Employment Services and a temple worker in the Bountiful LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, Kay; 9 children Jeanine (John) Wilson, Renae Hurst, Charles (Lisa) Hurst, Patricia (Michael) Steed, James (Rebecca) Hurst, Elaine (Sean) Fahey, Alan (Lisa) Hurst, Thomas (Stephanie) Hurst, Michael (Melissa) Hurst; 29 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Norman (Joy) Hurst, LaMar (JoAnn) Hurst, Belva Hencheid. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Leona Anderson and Arlene Cheever; and brothers Leo, Harold, Floyd, Arvel, Vernal, Earl; and daughter-in-law Janet Hurst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016, 12:00 noon, at the LDS Church, 7171 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, April 29th, 6-8:00 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, and prior to services Saturday at the church from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West.
