Barbara "Bobbie" Gunnerson Shewell

Barbara "Bobbie" Gunnerson Shewell, age 86, passed away February 19, 2016. She was born December 27, 1929, in Salt Lake City, to Fountleroy Eric and Evelyn Peckham Gunnerson. On June 17, 1948, she married Joseph Mac Shewell. On March 6, 1964, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She retired from the Granite School District in 1992, after 26 years of service. She was active in her church, holding many ward and stake positions in additional to serving in the temple for three years. She love genealogy, painting, sewing, ceramics, square dancing, and gardening. She is survived by her children, J. Keith (Colleen) Shewell and Kim (Brett) Hardcastle; son-in-law, Clair Christensen; 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Gunnerson, and Lowell (Lois) Gunnerson; brother-in-law, Lert Dawson; and sister-in-law, Lois Gunnerson. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; daughter, Kristine Christensen; foster daughter, Vida P. Nguyen; brother, LeRoi Gunnerson; sisters, Gay G. Dunn and Connie Dawson; and sister-in-law, Carma Gunnerson. A Special thanks is extended to Bobbie's caregivers, Kimberly, Natalie, Michael, and Cheryl; and the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice. A viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, at the 123rd LDS Ward, 3665 South 6000 West, in West Valley City.
