BARBARA ANN NIEDERER RICHINS
03/03/1954 - 02/02/2023
Barb [Barbara Ann Niederer] Richins, age 68, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Salt Lake City, UT, at the LifeCare Center of Salt Lake, 1201 E 4500 S, SLC UT 84117.
Barb is the wife of Mike [Michael Paul] Richins. They met while living in the Atria Assisted Living Center, Sandy UT, and were married in the Jordan River Temple, 10200 Temple Drive, South Jordan, UT, September 2, 2008. The severity of Barb's health issues forced her to be transferred into more viable able care centers, eventually LifeCare.
Barb died from Cerebral Palsy. Health trials had haunted her since her birth in 1954 in Rexburg, ID. Her sister, Linda, comments: "She was always a happy little child, in spite of all of her handicaps."
She conquered her childhood by receiving special surgeries provided by specialty hospitals and paid for by contributions from charitable organizations such as the Red Cross. She was often transported to Salt Lake for special hospitalization in children's hospitals. Her loving parents would find the charities.
Barb was the fourth child of Jesse Ray Niederer Sr. and Theo Anna Ricks. Her other four siblings are Jesse Ray Niederer Jr. (1941), Linda Kathleen Niederer Allen (1944), Richard Brian Niederer (1947), and Bradley Rulon Niederer (1957).
Barb graduated from high school and continued on to college in Rexburg and Ogden. She worked as a police dispatcher in Idaho. She loved reading and learning. As well as loving pets, she loved people and people loved her.
Her unique qualities of kindness and caring for others radiated from her, and others paid heed. In spite of her many handicaps, she was adored by most everyone she knew.
She became a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While at Atria, she served in the Relief Society presidency. She loved attending the temple frequently.
