On July 9, 2021, Barry Lee “Blue Frog” Phillips returned home to his Heavenly Father after suffering complications from the COVID-19 virus. We are grateful to know he has been reunited with his family who have passed on before him.
Barry was born in Ogden, UT on April 3, 1951, to Beverly Jeanne Berry and David John Phillips. Barry served in the Marine Corps for ten years and loved to talk about his military experiences. He also supported the Marine Corps any chance he got. Barry met Lela Jarman while serving in the military and they were married and sealed together on November 24,1971. After Lela’s passing, he met Jackie Mulcock. They were married on December 15, 2012.
Barry loved being a part of the Boy Scouts and served in that calling for almost 30 years. He received the Silver Beaver Award in recognition of his service and commitment to his Boy Scouts while making many lifelong friends. He also had many other church callings over the years and had a great love for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout his life he developed a passion for many different hobbies and was very active in the Mountain Man Rendezvous and Cowboy Action Shooting communities.
Barry had a very strong work ethic and put all his energy into every project he was involved in. He was very good at delegating and was an excellent leader. He paid attention to the most finite details and as his Scout training had taught, he was always prepared. Once retired, he moved to St. George, UT and became a crossing guard. He loved talking with and waving to the children every morning and afternoon and regularly mentioned that it was a highlight of his day.
He is survived by his children: LeeAnn, William, James, Suzanne, Cheri, JoAnne and Diana and their spouses; grandchildren and a great grandson; his second wife, Jackie, her children: Brittany, Kris, Cory and Kim and their spouses; grandchildren; siblings: Carol, Sandy, Jim, Linda, Russ, and Doug and their spouses. Preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lela, daughter, Christianna, and granddaughter, Rebekah.
