Bernard Clair Gardner

August 1, 1933 — January 18, 2015

Bernard "Berni" passed away peacefully January 18, 2015, at the age of 81. He was born August 1, 1933, to Max Edward Gardner and Clara Elizabeth kettle in Neola, Utah. He served in the Korean War. After returning home he married Shirley Lee Penfield; they later divorced. They have five children. While growing up in Neola he learned the value of hard work which followed him throughout his life. Dad loved his family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping in the Uintahs and Strawberry. We will miss your life-long stories of your past that kept us laughing. Our hearts are broken at this time as we say goodbye for now, but we share great memories and laughter which will last forever. Berni was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Clara Gardner; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Gordon Allred; brother, Blaine Gardner; and sister, Carma Frampton. He is survived by his children, Kim (Terry K.) Mankin, Jana (Michael) DeHerrera, Douglas C. (Alison) Gardner, Diana (Albert) Ploeger, and Randy (Shelly) Gardner; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. We would like to extend our gratitude and a special thank you to the care givers, CNA's, and nurses at Rocky Mountain Hunter Hollow Care Facility and Hospice for their tenderness and loving way they cared for our father. Family and friends my join us for funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville.
