Bernice Gouveia White

Bernice White was called to her heavenly home February 6, 2021, peacefully at her residence in West Jordan, UT surrounded by family. She was in her 91st year. 

Born in Maui, Hawaii to proud parents Ida and John Gouveia on February 3, 1930.

She met her knight in shining armor, husband Harold in 1966 and soon thereafter they married on May 6, 1967.

Bernice lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate home and was highly skilled with crochet hooks. A couple of her favorite pass times was gardening and fishing. Most of all she loved her family dearly & instilled in her children strong values with words of encouragement, wisdom and comfort that kept everyone in line, which was a must raising seven children. She adored every addition to the family line from grandchildren to her great-grandchildren always pouring love into each one as if they were the only one, which brought her incredible joy.

Although her passing brings us great sadness, we have a bridge called Love…which will allow us to look back on brighter years and precious moments that will be with us always. These fond memories are treasured in our hearts and keeps her close though we are apart. This is a bridge of memories from earth to Heaven above that has been years in the making to help us keep her near until we can be reunited again.

Bernice is preceded in death by parents Ida and John; siblings Helen, Josephine, Lillian, Marie, Manuel, John, Dany, Alvin, Tony; husband Harold; daughter Valerie; grandchildren Misty and Justin; great-grandchildren Haylee and Lucas.

Bernice is survived by sister Mildred; daughters Deborah (Jeffery), Dorene, Ida, Patricia, Brenda (Manolo); son James; over twenty grandchildren as well as over twenty great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, where a viewing will precede services from 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
