Bert Howells

Charles Albertus Howells Sr. “Bert”, 85 years old, passed away June 12, 2021. Born on February 21, 1936, in Sugar City, Idaho to John and Isadora Howells.

Married the love of his life Carol Ann Green on August 15, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked and retired from Garrett/Overnight Trucking. He loved to travel. One of his fondest memories was of a trip to the Civil War battle fields with his loving wife and best friend Ralph. He loved horse racing, coin collecting and spending time and money in Wendover. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wonderful great-grandkids, family and friends.

Bert was the most amazing man anyone could know. He always made you feel like the most important person when you were with him. He told the best stories and always made you laugh. He was truly a gift to all who knew him. Words cannot express the love that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as the rest of his family, had for him. The love he gave and joy he brought to everyone’s life will be missed. We all love you.

He was survived by sisters Julie McWhorter, Judy Lowe and Susan Wilcock; children Gary (Candice), Allen (Stephanie), Boyd (Cory), and Jackie (Andy); as well as 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann Howells; son Charles Albertus Howells, Jr. and Rory Brent Howells; parents; four brothers; two sisters; and his loyal companion – his dog Nemo.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.  Graveside services will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, 12:30 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
