Betty Jean Coats Anderson

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on June 27, 2019. Betty was born on March 11, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William and Marjorie Coats.

Betty married her sweetheart, Allen Richard Anderson on April 17, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children.

Allen and Betty served a mission at the Sandy LDS Employment Center and as Stake missionaries. Betty was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including Primary teacher and leader, Ward and Stake Relief Society President and greeter.

Betty was a true disciple of Christ. Through her example, she touched many lives through service and unconditional love. Mom enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, knitting and most of all, spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by her children Peggy Okelberry (Don), Linette Thacker (Brian), Bruce Anderson (Kathy) and Craig Anderson; sister Carolyn McDougal (Richard) and Steve Coats (Pat).

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Allen; and daughter Christine; parents William and Marjorie Coats; and brothers Archie, LaVarr and Gerald.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019, 12:00 p.m. at the West Jordan Church Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building, 4825 W. 7000 S. Viewings will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, 6-8:00 p.m. and Monday, July 1, 2019, 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the West Jordan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.

Our family would like to thank all those who cared for Mom with love and compassion at Sunridge Assisted Living Center.
