Betty Jane Wright 1929 ~ 2025

Betty Jane Wright was born on February 16, 1929 in Exeter, CA to George Harold Teague and Era Florence Wiley Teague.

Betty passed away on Sunday March 23, 2025

Betty was always grateful to be raised in a pastoral setting in a beautiful and safe community. Her father grew peaches and Emperor grapes on the ranch at the base of the Sierra Nevada, and raised cattle in the foothills. For her, it was an ideal upbringing with loving parents, a protective big brother (who was 14 years her senior), lots of ducks in the nearby ditches, many friends and a host of adoring aunts and uncles.

She attended the nearby Locust Grove schoolhouse on land her family had gifted for the school. After her early years at Locust Grove, Betty went into the big city (Exeter) for junior high and then Exeter Union High School. She later studied at the College of Sequoias in Visalia, CA.

Betty met the love of her life, Floyd Wright Jr., when she was 14 and he was 16. They dated, and then courted, and later married on July 12, 1947 in Exeter, CA at the Exeter Presbyterian Church. Four days later they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Floyd and Betty have three children: Susan D. Mallamo (Paul), G. Richard Wright (deceased) and John T. Wright (Kathy); along with sixteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Floyd and Betty raised their family in Visalia, CA; St. George, UT; and Taylorsville, UT. Following the lives and activities of her children and grandchildren brough her great joy.

Betty joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while she and Floyd were courting and she was active in the church for the remainder of her life. Most memorable to Betty are the times she and Floyd served missions in the St. George Temple; Colorado Denver Mission; Canada Calgary Mission; and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Floyd; her parents George and Era Teague; her brother Jack Richard Teague and his wife Frances Montgomery Teague; her son G. Richard Wright; two infant granddaughters; and loving in-laws including Floyd Wright Sr. and Martha May Johnson Wright; In-laws Jay and Judy Wright, Joe Wright, and Wil Wright.

Betty is survived by two children, 14 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren; two beloved sisters-in-law, many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of good friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 31, 2025 at 10 am, preceded by visitation from 9-9:45 am at the Taylorsville 1st Ward, 2845 S. Woodhaven Drive in Taylorsville, UT. Interment will follow at 11:30 am at the Holladay Memorial Cemetery at 4900 S. Memory Lane in Holladay, UT.
