Beverly Chase 1936 ~ 2013 Our beloved Wife, Mother, and Nana, Beverly Simper Chase, returned home to her Heavenly Father Tuesday July 9, 2013, with family members by her side. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Wayne and Erma Sylvia Beckstead Simper January 21, 1936. She married Wayne Spencer March 22, 1954. From that union came her first three children, Kevin Wayne, Marvin Kory, and Steve Todd. She and Wayne were later divorced. She met the love of her life, C. Richard Dick Chase, while working as a cosmetologist in her home salon. They were married December 14, 1959 and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1979. She completed their family when she gave birth to Michael David. In 1963, the three older boys were adopted by Dick. Beverly was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Relief Society President of the Riverside First Ward for a time. They raised their family in Salt Lake City, living in many different homes throughout the valley. One of her many talents was to see the potential in a house and then beautify it to enhance its value, before moving on to the next home. She worked for many years as a Home Health Care Aide, bringing joy to the hearts of those she served, day and night. She dearly loved each one of her grandchildren as they came into life, and she preferred to be called by the term Nana , which seemed younger than being a grandma. When Dick retired, they relocated to Mayfield, UT, and later moved to Washington state with homes in Forks, and Sequim. Beverly was vigilant in monitoring her diet as she faced challenges due to Celiac Disease and Diabetes. She excelled in cooking and often had a well-kept garden. In December 2012, Beverly suffered a stroke. Dick then decided to bring her back to Utah, with the help of their children, where she could be near her family. The family greatly appreciates the compassionate care provided by Heritage Park Care Center and Inspiration Hospice since her arrival in April. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne C. Simper and Erma Sylvia Simper Poulsen; and brothers Cifford Simper and Archie Simper Poulsen. She is survived by her husband, Carl Richard Chase; her children, Kevin Wayne (Danette) Chase, Marvin Kory Chase, Steve Todd (Terry), and Michael David (Sue); 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren; siblings Erma (Therral) Curtis, Joseph William Poulsen Jr., Florence Kay (JE) Stewart, Connie Ione Smith. Her family will deeply miss her special laugh and the way she made each person feel loved and cared for. A viewing will be held Thursday evening, 6-8 pm at the Riverside 1st Ward Building, 1148 W. 500 N., SLC, UT. Graveside services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 So., SLC, UT. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Hobbies:Cooking, GardeningOccupation:HomemakerOccupation:LDS Church
