Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Blaine Frederick Winslow, 85, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024, while surrounded by his family.
Blaine was born in Preston, Minnesota on February 27, 1938, to parents Leslie B. Winslow and Elsie Robinson. The family moved to Utah in October, 1938. He attended schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School in 1956.
He joined the Navy in August, 1956, and served on two ships touring the Pacific in the Seventh Fleet. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and later employed as a clerk at the main Post Office in Salt Lake City where he worked for 38 years until his retirement in August, 2000.
He went to college on the GI bill at Utah Technical College receiving a degree in auto mechanics and certificates in electricity and engine repair.
Blaine married Geraldine 'Geri' Crafton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 5, 1965. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary.
Blaine enjoyed many hobbies; going to baseball games, shooting guns, camping and fishing with sons, coin & stamp collecting, metal detecting, and travel. Upon retirement he and Geri embarked on 9 cruises and spent summers camping in their motorhome.
He was a prolific genealogist and published his book, 'Hosmer's People' archiving the Winslow family history. He was a long-time member of the Mayflower society attending yearly dinners with his daughter, Elaine.
He enjoyed spending time with his 2 grandchildren, Ava and Ashley, who would receive a dollar coin from him at every visit.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geri, two children, Elaine and Eric (Kellee), grandchildren Ava and Ashley, and brothers Keith, Ross and Vernon. Preceded in death by son Gregory and brother Gordon.
We will miss his corny jokes, sayings, and rhymes.
