Cherished mother and friend, Bonnie Maureen Forester Young was reunited with many loved ones when she departed this world August 15, 2015 at age 77. Born in Eldorado, Illinois, on November 16, 1937, Bonnie traveled the country and world, discovering a lust for learning. An avid reader and painter, Bonnie was also a proud Democrat and passionate about causes ranging from the Sierra Club to PBS. She established herself as a dedicated and impressive leader, heading up several divisions of the U.S. Census Bureau in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, where she was the point-person in the planning and execution of the 2000 census. Bonnie married Freddy Richard Young on April 7, 1955, and together they had two sons, Fred James Young and Daniel Wayne Young. Though Bonnie and Rich separated in 1972, they remained the closest of friends until Bonnie's final days. Bonnie and Rich's wife, Tillie, formed a close bond, and she was like an aunt to their children, Marcie and Sean. Bonnie had a passion for life that inspired, and her strength and independent spirit garnered respect and admiration from all who met her. She is survived by several family members: her son Fred; Rich and Tillie Young; Marcie, Alex and honorary grandson Leo Cancio, Sean Young; nephew Jamie Hughes; niece Cherie Ross and Debbie (Bill) White McGrimley; sister Rosalyn Powell. She has joyfully been reunited with those who preceded her in death: father Hubert Franklin Forrester; mother Vernie Vinita Forester; sister Laura Jean Hughes; son Daniel; and aunt Laura White, with whom she shared a very special bond. The family thanks the staff of the Beehive Homes of Draper, especially owner Stan Ketcher, for their exceptional care of Bonnie over the last two years. A special thanks to Tillie Chapa Young for her support and selfless assistance during Bonnie's time of need.
