Boyd A. Chapman _________________ Boyd Arthur Chapman passed away peacefully Monday morning, May 23, 2011, of natural causes at the age of 86. Boyd was born January 2, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third child of Arthur and Eva Gardner Chapman. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. He continued his education at LDS Business College and the University of Utah. Boyd was taught to work hard and always do his best. He finally gained enough weight to join the Army at the end of World War II and was part of the occupational forces in Japan. Boyd was a true patriot and a life long member of the American Legion. He married Irmgard (Irma) Pirente July 11, 1946 in the Logan Temple. They have 8 children, 36 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. They raised their family in Granger, Utah. He served faithfully and well in numerous callings in the LDS Church. Boyd was an accountant at Walker Bank, Zions Bank, and retired from the LDS Church Accounting Department after 23 years. Assignments from the Church sent him to Dallas, Texas, Cleveland, Ohio, and Frankfurt, Germany. During his retirement, he and Irma served missions to Berlin, Germany and Nauvoo, Illinois. Boyd is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Irma; their children: Cynthia (Paul) Douglas, Judy Dietrich Davis, Ellen (Dale) Clyde, Carolyn (Lance) Thorup, Carl P. (Julie) Chapman, Paul B. (Beverly) Chapman, Becky Chapman; daughter-in-law, Annette Chapman; brother, James; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew, who passed away this past January; sons-in-law, Ernie Dietrich and Keith Davis; parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother. Viewings will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 6- 8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT and Wednesday, June 1, 2011, 9:00 a.m. at the Granger North Stake Center, 3175 South 3450 West, West Valley City, UT with the funeral to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
