Brent Jay Colton, (77) of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully in Mesa, Arizona on Saturday, July 13th, 2024, battling brain cancer. Brent was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1947 to Elmo and Miriam Colton. He loved growing up with his brothers and sisters. (Gary, Geoff, Patty and Janelle).
Brent graduated from Olympus High School, where he was on the wrestling team. He served in the Army Reserves, served a mission in Australia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and worked as a Computer Systems Engineer for a telephone company. Brent met the love of his life, Carma Burkinshaw in High School. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1969. They lived mostly in Utah (Murray, West Jordan) and eventually ended up in Mesa, AZ.
Brent is survived by his wife, Carma. His 3 children, Christopher (Teresa), Jennifer (Benjamin) and Danyelle (Tyson). He is the proud grandfather of his 8 grandchildren, Aleena, Austin, Ryan, Spencer, Averrey, Jamin Tate, Daicia and Tayvin.
Brent and Carma loved to travel with their family, friends, and sometimes just together! He enjoyed playing softball, boating, water skiing, camping, four wheeling, traveling, and fishing. No matter the activity he truly loved doing anything where he could spend time with his family. He was always supportive of his kids and grandkids attending baseball/softball games, soccer games, dance recitals, band concerts and church activities. We could always count on Grandpa and Grandma to be there with a big smile! Brent was an amazing example. He was always willing to help anyone no matter what it was. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His Plan of Salvation.
