Brett Graham Mackay, 53, of West Jordan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 16, 2017. He died after a brief but valiant fight with leukemia and pneumonia at LDS Hospital. Brett was born June 28, 1963, in Murray, Utah to W. Dale and Nelda Graham Mackay. He spent his early years in Bennion, Utah, then moved to Provo. He attended Provo schools, ultimately graduating from Provo High School in 1981. He also graduated from Snow College and Utah State University with a degree in history. In 1997, he was set up on a blind date with Karalee Ostler, of Springville, by his aunt Alice Graham. After a whirlwind courtship they were married January 16, 1998, in the Manti Utah Temple. In 1998, Brett went to work for the LDS Church at the Granite Mountain Record Vault. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He formed many friendships there. He is survived by his wife Karalee, of West Jordan; his parents, W. Dale & Nelda Mackay of Provo; four brothers: Alva of Provo, Lee & Jenny of Spanish Fork, Richard &Virginia of Colorado, and Eric & Jeannette of Provo; and 14 nieces and nephews. Also survived by Karalee's sisters, Laralynn & Stephen Tefteller, Lisa & Taun Barton, and Jan & Justin Tranchell; and 9 nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Friday, February 24, from 6 - 8 pm at the West Jordan Utah, Jordan Oaks Stake Center at 8117 South Leslie Drive (3905 West) in West Jordan. Following the viewing there will be a Life Celebration from 8 - 10 pm where pie will be served. Brett loved any kind of pie. He said there was three kinds of pie: hot pie, cold pie, and pie alamode. Come have a piece of pie and share your stories about Brett. Another viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9 - 10:45 am. The funeral will begin at 11 am with Bishop Ryan Mecham officiating.
