C. Glade Hurst returned home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 28, 2016, after a briefillness, while surrounded by his loving family. Glade was born on September 16, 1935, toClarence Ray Hurst, Jr. and LaVarda West Hurst in Blanding, UT. His family spent many years in Pleasant Grove before building a home in East Millcreek. Glade graduated from Granite High School in 1953 and joined the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glade served in the Southern Australia mission. Upon returning from his mission, he attended LDS Business College where he met his eternal companion Judith Ann Lewis. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 8, 1961. He graduated from the U of U and was an avid Ute sports fan. He also loved hunting and fishing. Glade and Judy raised their family in Taylorsville, UT where Glade worked as an Elementary teacher for over 40 years. His family spent many summers in Kanab, UT, where he worked for Lewis Meats. Glade loved teaching, especially the last few years of his career as one of Granite School District's home hospital teachers for grades K-12. In addition, Glade shared his testimony as he served in many ward and stake callings throughout his life. He loved serving for 19 years in the Jordan River Temple with his sweetheart Judy. They also enjoyed serving together in the Salt Lake Inner City mission. Glade leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and service. His family was his world. Glade leaves behind his beloved wife Judy; and their six children: Debbie (Steve) Curtis, Randy (Sheila), Gary (Mary), Kevin, Kathy (Dennis) Froisland, Jerry (Masina); 17 grandchildren; brother Brent (Joyce); and sister Marlene (Gregg) Wilding. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Larry Hurst; and his in-laws H. Bernell and Elva Lewis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Taylorsville 19th Ward, 2030 Chateau Avenue (5225 South). Viewings will be held Friday, November 4th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Saturday prior to services at the church, 9:30-10:40 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
