Caitlin Bengtzen

June 1, 1992 — March 13, 2025

Caitlin Elizabeth Bengtzen, born on June 1, 1992, in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 13, 2025. Caitlin was the cherished daughter of Teague and Jen Bengtzen and the beloved only daughter of their three children.

Caitlin led a fun-filled and adventurous life, enriched by her amazing voice and love for singing. She had the most beautiful blue eyes which everyone commented on and an extremely contagious smile that could light up any room. She performed for years with the International Children's Choir, taking the stage with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and many dignitaries during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Her talent took her to several countries in Europe, including a memorable performance in front of the Original Christus in Copenhagen, Denmark.

After graduating high school, Caitlin attended BYU Idaho, where she made countless friends and embraced the challenging cold walks to class each day. After BYU Idaho she transferred to Utah Valley University and then went into cosmetology where she was very talented and found great joy in cutting hair. She pursued this passion for many years, not just as a skill but as a way to connect with others. Caitlin loved listening to her clients and offering comfort and support, helping them navigate their challenges while bringing a smile to their faces.

Beginning in her mid-20's, Caitlin faced numerous health issues that brought physical and mental struggles. Even with those challenges, she embodied selflessness in its truest form. Caitlin's heart was always focused on others, even as she faced her own challenges. She never wavered in her commitment to brighten someone else's day, frequently sending thoughtful gifts or reaching out to support anyone feeling sad or lonely. Her incredible strength and unwavering positivity were matched only by her profound compassion for those around her.

In her final years, Caitlin lived with her grandmother Raynee, whom she dearly loved. They shared laughter and tears, providing a nurturing and safe environment where Caitlin thrived. Caitlin's greatest desire was to stay close to her family. She adored her brothers, Zach and Josh, and cherished her sister-in-law, Danae, as one of her best friends. Teague and Caitlin enjoyed road trips together, especially during her less mobile times, and her best friend and confidant was her mother, Jen.

Six months ago, Caitlin entered hospice care and, true to her adventurous and determined spirit, she created a bucket list that held deep personal significance. Each item was to be completed in order: first, return to the temple after being away for over 10 years; second, visit Zach and Danae's home in San Antonio; and third, experience the joy of Disneyland. Through the love and support of her family, Caitlin was able to accomplish all three cherished goals before her passing, leaving behind lasting memories for everyone involved.

Caitlin's social media posts in her final months often expressed her deep love for her mom, highlighting their close bond and frequent sleepovers. Caitlin's defining quality was her compassion for others, which she demonstrated the night before her passing when, despite her immense pain, she stood up, walked over, and comforted her crying grandmother with a hug.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to First Choice Hospice for their compassionate care of Caitlin over the past six months. A special thank you to Jan, who went above and beyond in her role. She was not just Caitlin's nurse but a true friend who cared deeply and selflessly, dedicating extra time to provide comfort and support. Her kindness will never be forgotten.

Caitlin is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Carl Moss and Gary Bengtzen. She is survived by her father, Teague Bengtzen; mother, Jennifer Bengtzen; brothers, Zach (Danae) Bengtzen and Josh Bengtzen.

Caitlin will be remembered for her unwavering positivity, compassion, and the love she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
