Calvin Lavar Harkness, 89, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 6, 2015 due to natural causes. Born August 15, 1925 in Murray, Utah to William Davis and Louise Kilpack Harkness. He grew up in Murray, Utah. Married Dorothy Margaret Robbins September 17, 1947; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple September 17, 1997. Served in the US Army in the 78th Division. Fought in the battle for the city of Kesternich, Germany in 1944 at the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge during WWII and awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. Cal owned his own business for more than ten years and then worked for Hi-Land and Cream O' Weber Dairy until retiring. He enjoyed many outdoor activities in the mountains, deserts and lakes, and camping and 4-wheeling with his family and friends. He was a devoted, loving husband and father who loved spending time with his wife, and best friend, Dot, who preceded in him death in 2006. He missed her with all his heart and are now reunited. Survived by his sons: Cal (Renae), Chad (Anne), Bryan (Chris); 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held, 11:00 am 12:45 p.m. prior to services.
