Carol Jean (Jeanie) Holmes Anderson

January 8, 1935 — March 3, 2018

"Angel Mother" Carol Jean (Jeanie) Holmes Anderson quietly passed away from this earthly life on March 3, 2018, due to causes incident to old age. She was born on January 8, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to wonderful and loving parents Richard Cy Holmes and Thelma Daniels Brown Holmes. She was the oldest of 3 daughters. Raised for most of her life in Taylorsville, Utah, she learned to work hard. Education was always important in her life as her father was a teacher and school principal and her mother worked for Granite School District. After graduating from Granite High School, Jeanie attended Brigham Young University. On December 7, 1954, she met Alma Davis Anderson and quickly fell in love. They were sealed on June 2, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 61 years. Mom was devoted to dad and supported him faithfully in all endeavors. She was an accomplished pianist and was always willing to accompany many people throughout her life. Most notably, Mom, was a wonderful wife, devoted and caring mother and homemaker. She was extremely talented as a seamstress and cook. She also served as president of the local PTA for several years. She loved to serve all around her. Carol Jean never wavered in her love and service as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including a Relief Society Presidents counselor, homemaking leader and teacher, Young Women Presidents counselor and adviser, and ward organist. She served with her husband, Alma Davis Anderson, as he presided over the Denmark Copenhagen Mission from June 1992 to 1995. She also served in the baptistry at the Jordan River Temple for many years upon returning from the Mission Field. Mom loved the Gospel with all her heart and shared her testimony with fervor. Mom was most grateful for a beautiful marriage and 8 wonderful children. Jeanie is survived by her 8 children: Annette (David) Holdsworth, Alan (Kandle) Anderson, Susan (Bret) Kuhn, Ron (Cheryl Ann) Anderson, Janet (Brian) LaPray, Richard (Heather) Anderson, Alyce (Brad) Llewelyn, and Stewart (Cheryl) Anderson; 31 grandchildren; and 20 great- grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marion (Cal) Todd and Pat (Jim) Jewell; and 2 sisters-in-law, Ludene Williams and Lola Ruth Anderson. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at the Country Park 5th Ward on 1980 West 11400 South, South Jordan, Utah, where viewings will be held Thursday, March 8th, 5:30-8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to services from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Interment, Herriman City Cemetery. Funeral services under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. As a family we extend our most heartfelt thanks to Dr. Steven Aslami, Carrington Court Care Center and Canyon Home Care and Hospice, as well as the many friends and family, neighbors and missionaries who have been so loving and kind to our mother. A special thanks to the sweet and caring CNA's and nurses who have tenderly and lovingly cared for our mother. You are angels and we will always think of you with fondness.
