Our beloved beautiful Mom, Grand Mom, Great-Grand Mom and Aunt passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 26, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah at her home from a long illness. Despite her infirmity her beautiful spirit always would show through. Carola was born to Bernardo H. Lopez and Refugio Amador Renteria. She was born on April 4, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was always happy and humbled to have grown up in the tough part of 2nd South. She was always watched over by her Dad and two brothers Candido Garcia and Bobby R. Lopez who knew the turf well.
She was active in cultural events, at a young age participating in the Mexican Hat Dance or Jarabe Tapatio to observe Mexican holidays. She always enjoyed attending social events weddings, birthdays, baptisms. She was always the last to go home. She graduated from West High, and soon after married the man of her life Emilio “Hyme” Vasquez Sr. They settled in Granger or better known as West Valley City, Utah with their four children.
Carola is preceded in death by both parents, her two brothers and her beloved husband. She is survived by her children Bernardo Lopez Vasquez, Trinidad Gonzales (Bob), Anna Maria Salazar (Chuck), Emilio “Hyme” Vasquez Jr (Maria); seven grandchildren; 7 great grand children; and many nieces and nephews, and not surprisingly, great friends and neighbors. She had a genuine one-of-a-kind relationship with those she loved. She is beloved and will be terribly missed.
