Carolee (Carrie) Vesta Neilson

Our beloved Carolee Vesta Neilson, “Carrie”, age 40, passed away unexpectedly on December 10^th, 2018 at her home in Taylorsville, Utah. She was born January 14^th, 1978 to LaDonna J. Sanders Neilson and Richard E. Neilson.

Carrie was raised in the Bennion / Taylorsville area and attended Taylorsville High School and Salt Lake Community College, earning her certification as a Medical Office Assistant. She worked in that field until her arthritis became too severe. She then went back to work for Friends of Multiple Sclerosis, setting appointments for donation pick-ups. She thrived in that role and was very appreciative of the opportunity to help others. She also loved animals and throughout her life she demonstrated great compassion for all creatures, big and small. Her two dogs, Buster and Al’bee were very much a part of her family.

In 1996 Carrie gave birth to her only child, Chylaine. Carrie embraced motherhood and would do anything to ensure that Chylaine felt loved and that she was well taken care of. As Chylaine grew up, people would often mistake Carrie as her older sister rather than her mother. Through all of life’s ups and downs, Carrie’s love for her daughter only got stronger.

Over the last years of her life, Carrie lived with her father and they took care of each other. It was a challenge for each of them, however, they became more than just father and daughter. They were best friends. It was a very special bond between them.

Carrie is survived by her daughter: Chylaine Turpin; her father: Richard Neilson; three sisters: Susan Newbold (Gary), Julie Hessheimer (Randy), Nancy Zander (Jeff); two brothers: Steven Neilson and Rick Neilson (Lisa); and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother: LaDonna Neilson.

"In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Humane Society of Utah."

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 18^th, at 2:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd, Taylorsville.
