Carolyn Lee Hartman (Clark)
"RAZ"
Carolyn (Raz) was born to Hazel Bell and James Frank Hartman, on December 18, 1946, in Indianapolis Indiana. Raz was raised in New Jersey (Jersey Girl). Little sister to James Bryan Hartman (Jimmie). She was a devoted, loving wife to husband Dan Loyal Clark, whom she married on March 18, 1980, in New Jersey. They were sealed together in the Salt Lake Temple a year later.
Raz peacefully passed away into the arms of our Heavenly Father on January 11, 2025, at the "young" age of 78 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loved ones, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She dedicated her life to her faith and family. Raz was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 27. She served as a tour guide on Temple Square and had so much love in her heart working in the Temples. Her entire life she had a powerful testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our mom had the ambition to be a rock singer. Her singing was wild, and she played the guitar. She also had a wonderful gift for writing. She enjoyed writing short stories and poetry. Her words could paint a picture. All the writings spoke from her heart and soul. Her dream was to get some of her work published.
In her professional life, Raz graduated from Clifton High School and studied at BYU. "Teacher Raz" was the best with kids as a pre-kindergarten teacher with compassion and patience. Her dedication in the classroom mirrored the dedication she brought to her role as a mother and grandmother. She also loved working with the hearing impaired, enjoying the beautiful language of sign.
Raz's generous spirit extended to everyone around her. She was a woman who never judged, offering a helping hand and open heart to all in need. She was always positive, uplifting, and had a beautiful comforting smile. Her loving legacy is carried on by her children: Aaron Daniel, Paige Amberly, Bryce Hartman, and Jennica Rae, who together reflect the many gifts Raz bestowed upon them throughout their lives.
She has four granddaughters: Angelique Me'chelle, LaTiana Reason, Olivia Mae, and Loyal Raz. She also has two great-grandchildren; Rhemi DanZel, and Lily'ahna Cielo, all of whom she loved, spoiled, and adored. As a cherished grandmother, she found immense joy in watching her family grow, providing them with a foundation of love and support that will continue to influence generations to come.
We are comforted in knowing that mom is reunited with our dad... her loving husband Dan.
Raz's words to live by... "Be calm and take one day at a time", "Be wise", "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all", "Everyone has their ups and downs", "Just do the best you can", "This too shall pass".
