One of Heavenly Father's choicest daughters, Carolyn Jane Pearson Rose, returned home as the sun was setting on February 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 17, 1944, the third child of David George and Elva Pennock Pearson. She loved being part of a large and loving family surrounded by her three brothers and three sisters. She grew up in the family home in Taylorsville and continued to live in Taylorsville for most of her life. She married the love of her life Terrel Lee Rose January 18, 1964 and they have been happily married for 54 years. They were blessed with 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, who are their pride and joy. A tomboy and avid Yankees fan as a teenager, she became a stylish, elegant woman. She was an amazing, encouraging, devoted mother and grandmother and nothing brought her greater joy than to spend time with her family. She especially loved one on one time with her grandchildren, whether having them over for sleepovers or attending their many games, recitals and events, she was always happiest when she was with them. She was also a devoted daughter, lovingly caring for her father and mother for many years. Carolyn was bright, articulate, and fun loving. A life long learner, she was always reading, studying and taking classes to increase her knowledge in a variety of topics. She was the ultimate people person, able to converse easily with anyone about anything. She had the Christlike characteristic of focusing on the individual, seeing their true worth and helping them discover those qualities in themselves. She was kind, caring, generous and gracious, lighting up the room with her beautiful smile and expressive brown eyes. Early on, she learned that the key to happiness is service. Whether spending as much time as it took to help a stranded traveler while working at Jet Blue, working after hours to get a difficult job done at Zions Bank or listening to a troubled teen while working in the counseling center at Taylorsville High School, she loved to serve others and help those in need. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Young Women leader, Achievement Day leader and counselor in the Relief Society Presidency. Recently, she spent countless hours serving as a Compassionate Service leader. Her greatest blessing, so often bestowed on others, was her unconditional love. She is survived by her sweetheart Terry; and their five children: Sandee (Jeff) Smith, Steve (Sherrie) Rose, Jason (Coral) Rose, Brian (Mindy)Rose, Brandon Rose; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings Beth Ann, Gary, Stuart, Scott and Merrilee. Preceded in death by her parents; and beloved sister Diane.
