Carolyn Jones

July 31, 1953 — May 14, 2024

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a beautiful life lived we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, nana, and friend, Carolyn Louise Jones. She passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday May 14, 2024.

Carolyn was born on July 31st, 1953, in Salina, Utah. She was the second eldest of five children, she always had a nurturing spirit, even early on helping care for her siblings. She has the gentlest soul, kind nature, generous character, and unconditional love for her family. She shared a wonderful sense of humor she got from them. We joked it was the Dunton humor! She enjoyed having fun and had a continuous laugh.

On May 30, 1975, she married her Highschool sweetheart Scott Jones. They lived in Salt Lake County, where they started a family of their own, and built a life together. They raised two daughters Jennifer Stilson and Rebecca Jones. While she was a wonderful, loving mother, she truly shined as a Nana to her two grandchildren Kaden Jones and Talon Fuhrmann. She and her husband raised them from the time they were little as their own sons. She devoted her life to the boys, staying home and homeschooling them through Graduation. This was one of her greatest accomplishments in life. When she spoke about the boys she would light up and the pride would shine through her eyes and words. She would say how joyful and honored she was that they grew into compassionate, intelligent, kindhearted, loving-natured young men. This brought a great deal of peace to her life and deep gratitude to her heart. In the last few years Kaden and Talon really stepped up and helped care for her needs daily.

Carolyn loved our family gatherings where she could share meals and enjoy each other's company. She was the heart and soul of every get together. It was her greatest joy in showing love and serving others, she cherished the moments we spent together. She always embraced opportunities to care for others whether it was preparing her famous seven-layer dip to brighten someone's day, mailing birthday cards to her nieces and nephews ensuring they always felt remembered, or handing out countless hand-sewn heating pads in fun designs to everyone she could -- never wanting anything in return, only to share her warm heart with a warm homemade heating pad. Her only priority was knowing others felt loved. She performed these acts of kindness quietly and generously over the years. Her gentle kindness will always be remembered.

Carolyn had many talents -- she loved having a garden full of beautiful flowers and vegetables, always having a helping hand from the boys. Every year she made homemade salsa only using the ingredients she grew herself in the garden. However, she steered clear of the slimy worms --she didn't like them as much. Thanksgiving was a special time of year when she found great joy in baking pies from scratch in everyone's favorite flavor. She got the nickname, Pie Lady, from the dedication and love she put into every pie she baked. You would often find her wearing her apron because she was busy cooking something delicious in the kitchen. Often, she would sit outside feeding the birds and enjoying the morning right after the sun came up. Her hands were always cold, but she would reference the quote from her grandmother, "Cold hands warm heart." She was also blessed with growing the longest, thickest, most beautiful flowing hair that easily grew down to her thighs, she would keep it tangle free by doing a gorgeous long braid down her back.

Carolyn's legacy of love, kindness, and family devotion will be forever remembered and cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her life continues to be celebrated by her family forever. We love you, Mom!

Carolyn was survived by her devoted husband Scott, their children Jennifer and Rebecca, their grandchildren Kaden and Talon, and son-in-law Jack.

A celebration of her life will be held on June 8, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Washington Park located at 7945 E. Mountain Dell Golf Road, Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be a potluck if you would like to bring a dish. ALL are welcome.
