Catherine Peel Lano

WEST VALLEY CITY, UT - Mary Catherine Peel Lano, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, June 30, 2019.

Cathie was born May 1, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, second child to Perry C and Mary Anderson Peel.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a young member doing many baptisms for the dead.

She graduated from South High School and received the state certificate in Cosmetology. She went on to own and operate her own salon (Raspberry Ribbon) and after meeting her late husband Karl, they opened the Midway Café in West Valley City.

Although she was taken from us too soon, she will be remembered and loved for the rest of time. Cathie’s concern in life was for those she loved. Her selfless example of love and kindness, courage and endurance will remain with many forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Patsy Peel Catano; husband Karl; and daughter Julie Ann Jorgensen.

She is survived by her siblings, Chris and Susan (Tom) Evans; her children Robert Jorgensen and Kari Jorgensen-Rockafellow; grandchildren, Merry, Christopher, Tianna Jorgensen, Amanda, Eric, Allison, Tyler, Taylor, Dakota, Tanner, Michael, Sarah, Samuel, Abagail, and her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Colton, Brandon, Calvin, Timothy, Makinzie, Jaimez, Dax, Necessity, Logan and Joey Jr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Jordan First Ward Chapel, 4145 South 3920 West, West Valley City, Utah. Friends may call at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, Friday, July 5, 2019, 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:00-9:45 a.m. Interment, Fountain Green Cemetery, Fountain Green, Utah, July 6, 2019, 2:00 p.m.
