Charles "Chuck" Anthony Srogus III passed away August 1, 2023. He was born July 19, 1945, in Mobile, Alabama, to Charles A. Srogus II and Nellie Irene Srogus. He graduated from Theodore High School in Theodore, Alabama, in 1963. Charles served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a proud BYU alumnus, and followed up with his masters degree from the University of Phoenix. Charles married Marcia Beth Thueson on November 29, 1968, in San Jose, California; later sealed in the Oakland California Temple. He found joy sharing his love of wood working and technology with the students at Clayton Middle School in Salt Lake City, Utah, as he was a teacher of vocational career classes. He was an avid amateur marksmen, enjoyed photography, being outdoors, bird watching, British comedies, action movies, McDonalds, and his big La-Z-Boy chair. He loved spending time in Yellowstone National Park with all of his family searching for wildlife. He will be remembered for making friends and sharing stories everywhere he went. In his later years, Charles loved attending the Kearns Senior Center, staying active and socializing with friends. During the last year of his life, Chuck lived at Ashford Assisted Living in Draper, Utah, where he was given wonderful care and attention by so many loving staff that he considered friends and extended family.
Charles is survived by his son Nick (Julie) Srogus; 3 beloved grandchildren Riley, Ellie and Ryan; sibling Rene Srogus. Proceeded in death by his spouse Marcia and brother Paul Srogus.
A viewing will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, from 6-8 pm at the Taylorsville 16th Ward, located at 3495 West 4850 South, Taylorsville, Utah. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah, under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund or Best Friends Animal Society at bestfriends.org.
