Our dearest Robert grew up in Lander, Wyoming, where he fell in love with the beauty of the mountains and the outdoors at the age of 5. He attended elementary and high school in Lander, went to college at UW in Laramie, obtaining a minor in journalism and arts and a major in archeology and anthropology. During his master's studies, his teacher and mentor was the renowned Dr. George Frison. Robert graduated with honors, specializing in Paleo Indian Archeology, and developing a love for outdoors photography. He went to Santa Barbara to spend a summer at the Brooks Institute of Photography training with Ansel Adams.
After years of teaching in Cheyenne, he was looking for a change and enriched his personal life by going to study at the University of Utah College of Social Work, earning a second master's degree in Psychotherapy. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and worked for 17 years at Valley Mental Health in the Drug and Alcohol Unit.
Robert met the love of his life, MariaEugenia Pinillos in 1995, and they married in 1999, in Peru, surrounded by all the Pinillos Clan.
He is survived by wife MariaEugenia, and sister Chrissie Swaim-Hunt of Lander, Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Ada "Billie" Swaim.
There will be a FAREWELL GATHERING on Monday, April 21, 2025, at McDougal Funeral Home, located at 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, with Open Time from 5 - 8pm, Farewell Words at 6pm.
