Cheryl Rae Edvalson Our loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother Today is a celebration of an amazing woman. After a courageous and determined fight against pancreatic cancer, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Cheryl Rae Edvalson, passed peacefully through the veil on May 30, 2012. She was born Cheryl Rae Peterson on January 2, 1956 to Elwood George and Myrna K. Peterson. At the end of summer, after graduating from Cyprus High School, she was sealed to her sweetheart, Douglas Eugene Edvalson, in the Manti Temple on September 6, 1974. Years later they were blessed to start a family. Family was always important to Cheryl and she made family time a priority. She believed eternal life is family life. She relished the chaos of Sunday dinners held every week with her family. It wasn t important what the family was doing, or where we were, it was just important to be there and doing it together. She loved experiencing life through her grandchildren and loved to spoil them. Cheryl was an active member in the LDS Church. She enjoyed her time serving in various capacities over the years, and strived to live a Christ-centered life. She will always be remembered for her generous and compassionate service. She strived to Live Beyond Casual. She enjoyed cooking and reading recipe books and expressed her love through special meals and treats. Music was an intricate part of her life. She had the opportunity to sing in many choirs and groups, including a session of General Conference. This was a special way for her to share her sweet testimony of the gospel. She was our precious gift of wisdom, laughter, patience, gentle strength, and love. Throughout this battle with cancer, she remained happy and positive. She has cheerfully fought the good fight, kept the faith and came out victorious. She is survived by her husband, Douglas, of West Valley; children: Ryan Edvalson of West Valley; Jennifer and Jason Hicks of Saratoga Springs; Trenton and Ashley Edvalson of West Haven; six grandchildren; parents Elwood and Myrna Peterson; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Gary David Edvalson. As a family, and on behalf of Cheryl, we would like to thank all the doctors and medical staff at Utah Cancer Specialists and Intermountain Medical Center for your gentle touch, encouraging smiles and wonderful support. Your efforts and friendships have meant the world to us as we fought this cancer together as a family.
