Christy passed away Sunday, January 13th, just before 3:00 p.m. while visiting with her father at Holladay Health Center. She had been recovering from a series of falls that had left her in great pain and poor health. Her loving father gave her a blessing for a severe headache and a few minutes later she left this life.
She was born to Robert and Naomi Light in the LDS Hospital. Christy was the 1st born of 8 children. Dedicated to her family, and being the eldest, she cared for and loved her siblings deeply. She graduated high school from East High and went to California where she met and later married Emereth Edgar Griffin. They had 4 children. She became a single mom and moved back to Utah to raise them on her own and near family. She went on to earn a master's degree in Special Education from the University of Phoenix. She taught at Robert Frost Elementary, in special education grades 1-3 for more than 10 years. She worked with some of the most troubled students. She spent 7 years working in the Child Behavior Therapy Unit. She loved children and they loved her. She always sought to help and care for children, often going above and beyond her teaching responsibilities. She took some of them into her own home and heart, personally caring for them.
An active member of the LDS church, she loved the Lord and was delighted whenever she was given a calling to serve in any way.
She loved music, and was always singing or humming along to her favorite Hymns and songs. She loved Christmas, gardening, crafting, scrapbooking, cooking, playing card games, making up new games, origami, books, writing, learning, teaching, word games, puzzles, spending time with her family, chocolate, coloring, the mountains, John Denver, fireworks, and spoiling her grandchildren.
She was a wonderful, unique woman with an open heart. She cared for everyone she met, often putting others needs before her own. She had a way of making everyone feel important and special. She will be sorely missed by all.
Christy is preceded in death by her mother Naomi Light, April 25, 2018.
She is survived by her 4 children, Cherame (Brian) Lindley, Jamie Griffin, Matthew (Juno) Griffin, and Emereth Griffin; her siblings, Rob (Kathy) Light, Kathy (Rick) Engman, Phillip (Marilyn) Light, Pamela Light, Rebecca (Bryan) Taylor, Vicki (Lynn) Squire, Cami (Mike) Naseath; her father Robert (Bob) Light; and her grandchildren, Cynara Lindley, Pyper Lindley, Thomas Kanter Lindley, with Dimitri Griffin due in February of this year.
