Christopher Stewart

October 21, 1975 — December 29, 2024

Christopher Lamont Stewart passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 49. He was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Chris, we reminisce over you.

Forty-nine years ago, a child was born on the 21st of October 1975, to Eugene and Ernestine Stewart. Chris grew up reading Word Up magazine, listening to NWA and Public Enemy he'd let his tape rock 'til his tape popped. He grew up on the shy side, the Salt Lake City times side and graduated from East High School. It was then he met a sick tight clique and went all out. He loved to travel, and once went on a west coast tour from Oregon to San Fran with a blunt in his hand. He was on the road like a trucker, man, had to take some trips.

As his favorite SportsCenter anchor used to say Chris was cooler than the other side of the pillow. He had an understated sense of style, and always chose the perfect combo of hats and kicks, paired with a freshly pressed tee. He liked fish and grits and all that pimp shit and would come alive at Hip Hop shows with his hands in the air screamin' out "oh yeah-yer!"

Chris was a devoted big brother, uncle, and friend. He was a kind and gentle soul and was known to spread his arms if you really needed a hug. He was a quiet guy with a keen sense of humor. A Hip Hop Head who loved sports radio, the Seahawks, and Lebron James, kept his home meticulously tidy, adored his nieces and nephew, and never, ever wanted to disappoint his friends.

Chris is preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Stewart; maternal grandparents, Juan and Ernestina Ibarra; and paternal grandparents, Willie and Grace Stewart. He is survived by his father, Eugene Stewart; sister, Rachel (Jeremy) Mullis; nieces, Adriane (Charlie) Carlson and Jazmyne Mullis; nephew, Angelo Mullis; great nephew, Zaven Carlson; best cousin, Elliot Stewart; and best friends, Xochitl Garza, Mike Throndsen, Ronnie Taylor-Sheppard, and Jason Segura.

A celebration of life to honor Chris will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84123.
